Six new homes are planned for a Rutland lot that currently has one house.
City council on Monday gave preliminary approval to the rezoning of the 3,237-square-metre property at 550 Mugford Rd.
Changing the zoning from large lot housing to medium lot housing supports the city’s goal of increasing residential density in established neighbourhoods, city planners say.
The redevelopment proposal will be forwarded to a public hearing for interested members of the community to provide their input.
The property, bigger than most in the immediate neighbourhood, has an assessed value of $734,000, but records show it sold in November 2018 for $1.1 million.
