Obsidian (Vancouver-Industrial Death Metal)

Obsidian is making their return to Muninn's Post! for their 4th time. Having released their third full length album Wake The Virus this past September. Self-booking their Fall tour going through BC & Alberta with Vancouver buddies in Truent.

Obsidian released their first album Time Erodes in 2015, featured a groove orientated Death Metal sound. With songs like My War, On Your Feet, and the title track Time Erodes being set list staples to this day. Songs of Time Erodes featured element of what was to come in the future, seasoned with intros and samples, things that would become more prevalent in their next releases. Songs on Time Erode received air play on both conventional & internet radio, gaining them fans not only across Canada, but around the globe. Their song My War was featured in a TV commercial for Men's Health, shown across Canada on CTV, Global & Sportsnet.

Their second release Into Oblivion (2016) saw Obsidian step in more of a sample heavy sound, with songs like High Crimes and Treason, Among the Masses and Last Goodbye showcased more the sample rich flavors they would be adding to their sound in the coming years. During this period Obsidian had the privilege of sharing the stage with Kataklysm, Starkill, The Faceless, Ninjaspy, Aggression, amongst many others!

September 2018 saw Obsidian release their third full length album Wake the Virus. This was a new direction for the band, getting fully immersed into backing tracks with strings, choir, synth pads, noises, and other random sounds. After spending nearly two years between releases, Obsidian wanted each song to have its own musical flavor. Wake the Virus features ten songs of brutality & beauty, and everything in between. The song Til the End is an out and out banger from start to finish, Black Winds of Disarray grooves, Face in the Sun (Featuring Jessie Grace of Kosm) has a dark haunting beauty, Eat You Alive has Obsidian dive head first into Industrial Death Metal.

Notable shows played in 2018: opening for The Faceless, Metalocalypstick Fest, Full Send Tour, Halloween Havoc Fest & Deathmas Festivus.

Obsidian will be opening for Hypocrisy & Fleashgod Apocalypse April 12 at the Rickshaw in Vancouver, BC

Playing festivals the likes of Metalocalypstick and Metallion, KOSM is excited to be conquering more of western Canada this summer.
