Kal Lake drowning victims identified

The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identities of two Vernon men who died while boating on Kalamalka Lake on Tuesday as Fredrick Basil Marshall, 50, and Albert James Castanelli, 47.

Two campers found dead in Kalamalka Lake on Wednesday were wearing life-jackets that didn't fit properly, say rescuers.

At about 7:30 this morning a Coldstream resident out for a walk in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park near the dog beach noticed a cooler floating in the water and one on shore.
On a closer look, he noticed what appeared to be a dog floating in the water as well.
RCMP were called out as well as Vernon Search and Rescue.
Search and Rescue volunteers brought out two of their boats and started to search the lake, said Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk..
In the last hour, two bodies have been located in the area of Cousens Bay.
At this time police are not releasing any details around the identities of the two bodies while they continue to determine who they are and where they are from.
