Orchardist Ed Hoffman looks over the damage to his Gala apple trees after someone mowed down about a dozen of them with a vehicle early Tuesday morning
Orchardist Ed Hoffman's Gala apple trees have been mowed down by a car for the second time in recent weeks.
About a dozen were damaged by a vehicle early Tuesday morning.
A similar incident happened about two weeks ago off of Longhill Road after another vehicle drove through three rows of his Gala apple trees, taking out 15 trees. Between the two mishaps, more than two dozen trees have been wrecked, he said.
The trees were planted in 2000 and replacements will take five years or more before they start bearing significant amounts of fruit.
Hoffman figures he has lost several thousand dollars worth of fruit. He would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the damage.
