Two elderly fishermen caught a pair of nice fish on McCulloch Lake on Friday, but ended up spending part of the night stranded on an island.
The men, both in their 80s, were reported missing to police by one of men's wives when they didn't return home Friday night as scheduled.
Police went up to McCulloch Lake, found their truck and called Central Okanagan Search and Rescue.
Rescuers went up to the small lake near Big White Ski Resort at 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
They came with eight searchers, three trucks, two ATVs and a boat.
After 40 minutes of looking, the team in the boat found the two men on a small island - safe, but cold. One of the men was taken to hospital with a mild case of hypothermia.
The motor on the boat the men were using failed. As night fell, they became disoriented and decided to beach the boat on the island.
That was the right thing to do in such circumstances, say rescuers.
However, the two men did not have cellphones, which would have been handy to call home and initiate the rescue themselves.
The men also were not dressed for the cold that came at nightfall and did not have a survival kit in the boat. A basic survival kit contains matches so you can start a campfire for warmth.
