Okanagan residents driving home on Boxing Day were running into all kinds of bad weather conditions through B.C. mountains.
Freezing rain warnings were issued Thursday morning for the Okanagan and Shuswap. Highway 33 was reported to be particularly bad.
Later in the day, the Drive BC Twitter feed reported several vehicles flipped in the Okanagan Connector median, east (Okanagan side) of Brenda Mine Road. Emergency vehicles were at the scene. Drivers on the Connector were dealing with snow, slush, slippery sections and heavy fog.
Meanwhile, drivers heading east today are warned Highway 1 just west of Revelstoke will be closed from 8 to 10 a.m. for avalanche control.
Things will be rather mild if you just stay in the Valley though. We will have a good chance or rain showers or flurries this afternoon and a high of 2 C, says Environment Canada.
