Fire crews are battling an aggressive wildfire in Keremeos.

The fire, burning on Upper Bench Road in northeast Keremeos, has grown to about 10 hectares.

"The fire is burning in grass and sage and displaying aggressive surface fire behaviour. Resources on site include 22 firefighters, one dozer and one water truck," say fire officials.

No homes are threatened yet, but there are residences near the fire.

"Crews on site are working with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to assess the need for an evacuation alert for nearby residents," say fire officials.

Firefighters now have the Peachland fire 100 per cent contained, and are in the mop up stage. The Peachland fire destroyed four homes this week.
