Alberta's plain-Jane community of Lethbridge is more romantic than the sexy and scenic Kelowna?
That's what Amazon.ca says in its latest ranking of Canada's Top 20 romantic cities.
Kelowna, known for its fine wines and beautiful beaches, is No. 12 - less romantic, apparently, than Lethbridge (No. 10 on the list), which is known for its ... blustery winds?
Kelowna, which fell from No. 3 on the list last year, was also beat out by the clearly unromantic cities of Saskatoon, Calgary and Waterloo, Ont. Even the uppity Toronto suburb of Oakville ranked higher than Kelowna.
So how did Amazon.ca judge the romance? "By comparing Amazon.ca sales data of romance novels and relationship books, romantic comedy DVDs and a collection of romantic music CDs," says a release from the company.
Apparently love is in the air in Victoria, which took the No. 1 spot on the list. B.C. was well-represented, with North Vancouver placing fifth, Vancouver in seventh and Nanaimo in ninth.
