A man was taken to Kelowna General Hospital Sunday morning after he was forcefully arrested by Kelowna RCMP officers.

Police confronted a 30-year-old Penticton man after the front-door window of the Kelowna detachment was broken.

"The male had fled on foot after the window was broken and refused to stop when confronted by police on Ellis Street, south of Queensway," said Kelowna RCMP in a news release. "The subject was taken to the ground by attending officers after he wrapped a studded belt around his fist and refused to comply with directions."

After the arrest, the man complained of breathing problems and was taken to hospital. He's since been released into police custody again.

The man faces a mischief charge.
