Chris Ausman
Authorities have declared Chris Ausman's death a homicide and released his body to his family.
A pathologist who performed an autopsy on the 32-year-old man's body this week concluded he died of foul play.
Police are withholding the cause of death and are trying to find the people who passed the spot where Ausman collapsed.
Investigators believe he died on the sidewalk on Highway 33 just west of Rutland Road between 1:15 a.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday. Surveillance video captured images of pedestrians and vehicles that would have gone by the spot during that time, RCMP said in a release Wednesday.
Ausman was playing poker in a house a couple blocks from where he was killed. He was likely walking to 7-Eleven when he was attacked, his brother Kelly said Thursday.
People have been calling in with tips, but police have not yet taken anyone into custody. They're asking people who walked or drove near the intersection of Highway 33 and Rutland Road to contact them.
Call the Kelowna RCMP tip line at 250-470-6236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
