Re: Guy Bissonette's letter, Reckless daredevils should pay for their actions, Dec. 30.
I think most people would agree with Bissonette, but retroactive action in collecting the money is a problem.
Also, the thought of having to pay for a foolish decision to go out of bounds after the fact may deter people from asking for help.
I believe a proactive position may have more positive results. Perhaps it is time that ski resorts had an imprint of their customers' credit cards for extraordinary expenses.
In bold print, they should be advised and sign an agreement that if the go out of bounds, they will automatically pay a penalty. Also, charges of up to $10,000 will be charged against the card for any rescue efforts they incur. Any money would be passed on to search and rescue.
This would ensure any reckless and irresponsible behaviour would be very costly and then perhaps, people would think twice before venturing into unknown territory,
