Jails first?

Print PDF
There was an interesting juxtaposition of articles on the front page of the Herald Dec.13.
First, an article saying that Penticton would not get money to expand Penticton Regional Hospital, where crowding and long waits for surgery are a chronic problem.
Second, an article about the beginning of construction of a new jail that will double the capacity for inmates in the Interior.
So, if you want to get into the nice new jail, you are in luck. But if you are waiting for surgery, tough luck; resign yourself to a long wait.
Florence Barton,
Penticton
