Keep on giving, but it doesn't hurt

Print PDF
A few months ago, I wrote an article about the importance of giving blood. I emphasized that the life you save could be someone very close to you. At the time, I had no idea how close to home that message would become.
My dear husband of 44 years was diagnosed with a bone-marrow cancer shortly after that article was written.
He has received several units of blood since then, and my respect and appreciation of our dedicated and wonderful donor base has increased immensely because of it.
I am honoured to be a 50-time donor myself, and have seen an increase in young, new donors in the last years. I hope they will make this a lifelong goal, proud to be able to give what's "in you to give."
It's free, easy and so very rewarding, knowing you have helped save three lives.
On behalf of my husband, Rudy, and many, many others, I thank you.
Willy Moes,
Kelowna
