With regard to the March 8 letter to the editor "Let feds know we don't want GMOs," I have met with constituents, including True Food Foundation representatives, and received petitions pertaining to genetic modification, which I have tabled in the House of Commons.
I have also shared my constituents' viewpoints on genetically modified organisms with the minister of agriculture, Gerry Ritz.
I wish to let constituents know that petitions can be dropped off at my office at any time during office hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Capri Mall, 114-1835 Gordon Dr. in Kelowna.
I can assure constituents, as I did in a recent column in this newspaper, that all petitions submitted to me, which meet the prescribed format of the House of Commons, will be tabled in Parliament.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to clarify the issue.
