A previous mayor and council, over a period of eight years, methodically bought up lakeshore properties along Cedar and Abbott streets for the soul purpose of future parkland.
This beachfront encompasses one of the last natural coves within city boundaries.
That previous mayor and council, in their wisdom, envisioned these acquistions as parks, such as Strathcona and Kinsmen parks. These acquisitions were duly noted many times in past council proceedings as "to be used as natural parkland."
How on Earth can Mayor Walter Gray and council so easily disregard those past plans, and even consider for one moment construction on this irreplaceable lakeshore property?
The "Pandosy by the Lake" area is rapidly becoming densified, and a natural park is so obvious. The previous council could envision that years ago, why can't Gray? This a perfect opportunity - a peaceful haven is desperately needed in that area.
