We want to thank The Daily Courier's eVent magazine for putting us on the cover.
HeART Fit is proud of the community we have created through making art together at the Rotary Centre, and it felt great to receive the paper's support.
Our group began Feb. 14, 2008.
Glenna Turnbull really captured the heART of who we are.
The timing of the article was perfect, too. Five of us were gathering to complete paintings for a display we've been asked to hang at the blood donor clinic. For sure, we'll frame this eVent article to go with our paintings. Community working together, that's heART!
The energy of heART Fit is contagious. We have had many visitors. One woman from Germany who dropped in last summer later emailed me to say that as a result of what she saw in the studio, she felt she would be happy moving to Kelowna as her husband wanted. She had been hesitant.
Take a look at our online journal, Sage-ing With Creative Spirit, Grace and Gratitude www.sageing.ca. It tells the stories of many in the Okanagan who have discovered that responding to their creative urges, whatever those might be, brings health and well-being for themselves and our community.
As the back of our old $20 bill asked, "Could we ever know each other in the slightest without the arts?"
Our seventh issue will be online March 2 for the Okanagan Arts Awards. We've received complimentary emails from across North America. I love how we are showing Kelowna's creative passion to the world.
Not bad for volunteers. It's been a good five years.
