Tuning out the propaganda

Print PDF
The most useful invention of the electronic age has be be the remote control.
When those nauseating taxpayer-funded Liberal election ads come on TV, it is very satisfying to be able to quickly mute the sound and/or change the channel.
These ads are repulsive not only because public money pays for them, but also because of the lies they try to spread. They trumpet low personal taxes, but don't mention that low personal taxes benefit the higher wage earners, managers, politicians and David Hahn while the lower paid workers and seniors make up the shortfall with higher user fees and reduced deductibles.
Ask any senior living on pensions if they are better off now than they were 12 years ago, and the answer will be a resounding No!
Additionally, many other taxes have been increased, notably energy taxes and the HST. Everyone has to pay these taxes, but for the well to do, it is a much smaller portion of their after personal tax income. This government had more than six years of good times, not of their doing, but due to the world economy, when they put new multimillion-dollar roofs on stadiums, built a highway for Whistler multimillionaires and blew a huge amount on the Winter Olympics. Now that conditions aren't so good, they want to dig themselves out of a hole on the backs of the less fortunate in society.
There is only one solution to this mess. In the coming election, send this arrogant bunch into the dust bin of history. It will be good riddance to a bad lot.
