In response to D. Jacks' thumbs down to my letter re: Sarah Burke not having proper insurance coverage, she was a four-time Winter X Games gold medallist and yes, I do believe that her bank account has/had more money then you or I think.
But you seem to have missed the point of my letter. The point was these athletes, or anyone else, for that matter, should make sure they have more then enough medical/life insurance in place before they go into training or competition, so that if something goes wrong and they get seriously hurt, their family doesn't have to beg for money from the public to pay the medical bills.
Same for homeowners making sure they have proper coverage for their home and contents so as to not ask the public to donate money to replace their lost belongings.
I was wrong however in stating that she was an Olympic gold medallist. Oops.
