Vernon Cadet Camp

Restored military vehicles will be on display Saturday at the Vernon Cadet Camp museum.

It’s getting busy this week at the Vernon Cadet Camp with a graduation ceremony on Friday, a historic military vehicle display set for Saturday and the Okanagan Military Tattoo slated for this weekend at Kal Tire Place.

Thursday at the camp, members of the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band from England will tour the camp museum. The band is one of the feature attractions at the tattoo Saturday and Sunday.

A graduation parade of cadets enrolled in three-week courses takes place Friday morning.

On Saturday, the museum will host Western Command Military Vehicle Historical Society. Eight to 10 restored military vehicles, including a Second World War-era gun truck and 25-pound artillery piece, and a Bren Gun Carrier, will be on display from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Patricia Way, just north of the museum.

Museum curator Francois Arseneault says it’s a perfect way for visitors to take in some history before attending the tattoo in the afternoon.

Admission is free. Access to the display is through the tunnel under Highway 97.

Museum staff members will also have an information table at the tattoo.

Tickets for the tattoo are available from Ticket Seller.
