UBC Okanagan civil engineering student David Phypers is one of 50 students in B.C. who have been awarded a Premier’s International Scholarship to continue their studies overseas.

The Premier’s Scholarships are valued at between $6,000 and $10,000, and are administrated by the Irving K. Barber BC Scholarship Society.

Phypers, from Yellowknife, will be studying in Sweden.

Premier’s Scholarships are funded from the returns on a $17-million endowment fund established by the province for international education. They are awarded to students demonstrating exceptional academic achievement and an understanding of how global literacy impacts society.
