With 80 artists and some 40 businesses on board, there was an air of anticipation on the eve of the inaugural Westbank and West Kelowna Cultural Days. Participating artists and businesses – along with invited guests gathered at the Sncewips Heritage Museum Sept. 25 for the launch celebration.

While this was the first year for Culture Days on the Westside, the cultural fair held across Canada at the end of September is in its fifth year. Artist Julia Trops didn’t want to go into Kelowna for Cultural Days, and was  frustrated nothing was happening on the Westside, so she approached friend Melissa Brown, owner of Westbank Blenz, and Tracy Satin, heritage officer with Westbank First Nation, to gage their interest in the event.
