The Central Okanagan Family Hub has launched a $100,000 campaign in an attempt to keep the Kelowna facility open.
The Hub, located at Pearson Road Elementary School, was created three years ago when KCR Community Resources combined a number of agencies serving children.
During the campaign launch on Friday, Katelin Mitchell, director of services with KCR Community Resources, highlighted the impact the Hub makes, with more than 12,000 visitors and 1,617 referrals to over 35 child-serving agencies over the past three years.
The campaign kicked off with 40% of its goal reached. The donations included a gaming grant of $15,000, a contribution of $1,730 from the Richard Stewart Family Foundation through the Central Okanagan Foundation and donations from the Rutland Elementary School Social Justice Club and Pearson Road Elementary PAC.
The campaign will continue until June 14.
People can donate online at kcr.ca. Follow the Do a Lot for a Little link.
There will be a drive-thru breakfast June 14 at the Hub, sponsored by Peter’s Your Independent Grocer.
