Middle Years Lane

Grade 9 student, Avajade, along with Coun. Maxine DeHart and others from Willowstone Academy, cuts the ribbon at the grand opening of Willowstone Academy’s Middle Years Lane.

A Kelowna private school that started with three students and one teacher/principal is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Willowstone Academy, now with more than 240 students in preschool to Grade 9, has launched the new year with a new home for Grade 6-9 students called Middle Years Lane.

“Middle Years Lane is an extension of our school's learning space," said Chief Learning Officer Karine Veldhoen.

Also new to the school this year are a produce garden, outdoor learning space and expanded preschool and daycare programs.

The school started 25 years ago at First Lutheran Church on Bernard Avenue. The church and school are now located on Lakeshore Road.
