Could this be the year Okanagan Lake makes it onto a list of B.C.’s top boating destinations?
Boating BC is once again inviting members of the public to nominate the best places in the province to set sail or make a wake.
Last year, Shuswap Lake came out on top, winning 30% of all votes cast. Half the top 10 contenders were on the Coast, and half were inland lakes or rivers.
“The public response to this initiative was overwhelming, and beautiful Shuswap Lake was named B.C.’s top boating destination,” Boating BC president Don Prittie said in a release.
From all entries received before June 18, a top-10 list will be devised, with online voting to continue until mid-July.
Inexplicably, Okanagan Lake, jewel of the Interior, wasn’t in the running last year. So, boaters, turn into voters and visit boatingbc.ca.
The recreational boating industry in B.C. employs 17,000 full-time individuals and contributes more than $2.2 billion annually to the provincial economy, according to Boating BC.
