You can get advice on how to kick your addiction at an open house on Thursday.
Experts from more than 30 agencies who work with people struggling with substance abuse are assembling at Trinity Baptist Church on Springfield Road.
Visitors will find display booths showcasing recovery housing, shelters, treatment and peer support. People specializing in child, youth and family issues will also attend.
The B.C. Coroners Service reported substances were the main cause of death for an average of 20 people in the Central Okanagan each year since 2004, said Christene Walsh, who co-ordinates social development for the regional district.
"Support is available for people seeking healthier lives. We want . . . residents to realize there is a wide range of resources locally because people often turn to friends or family first for help," she said.
The open house runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
