A pedestrian struck by a passing vehicle near Grindrod has died, say RCMP.
John Thomas, a 59-year-old Enderby resident, was walking or hitchhiking on Highway 97A when a large vehicle - likely a truck - knocked him to the ground by Grandview Bench Road after dark Nov. 9. He died in Kelowna General Hospital 10 days later.
Doctors found numerous head and upper-body injuries consistent with getting struck by a pickup or commercial truck, RCMP said. It's not clear whether he was facing traffic or had his back turned.
Thomas had family in Enderby and was not homeless, police said.
Officers have interviewed several people and are looking for more witnesses. Call 250-805-2111.
