Police seek bank robber

Print PDF
RCMP in Kelowna are asking the public's help in finding the man who held up the Scotiabank branch at Orchard Park mall Friday afternoon.
The white man, described as being 40 to 45 years old and about five feet six inches tall with a slim build, walked into the bank shortly before closing time and demanded money from a teller.
No weapon was produced and no one was hurt, said police.
The robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash, which he stuffed in a black carrier bag, and made his getaway on an old blue mountain bike with a dent in the frame.
He cycled toward the Real Canadian Superstore and might have made his escape using the Mission Creek Greenway. Witnesses there reported seeing a man on an old blue mountain bike.
The whole heist was caught on the bank's surveillance video.
It shows the man entering the bank wearing a blue baseball cap and a black fleece with stripes on the arms that was zipped up all the way so the collar covered the lower half of his face.
The exposed upper half of his pockmarked face appeared to have white paint or makeup on it, possibly as a disguise.
He wore dark sweatpants, dark shoes and brown gloves.
If you have any information about this holdup, the police ask you to call the Kelowna detachment at 250-762-3300 and refer to robbery file No. 2012-5303.
