A 38-year-old Vernon man who killed and cut up the body of another man will spend at least one more year in a mental health facility.
The B.C. Review Board has extended the detention for Kenneth Barter.
He was found not criminally responsible for the murder of his friend, Nathan Mayrhofer, in August of 2010.
Barter, a schizophrenic, killed and dismembered the 32-year-old victim in the deluded belief that Mayrhofer was a threat to Barter's father.
