First Nations fashion designer Jill Setah is organizing an Idle No More protest at 11 a.m. Friday in Westbank.
"Bring your posters and signs, drums and songs," she said in a Facebook posting. "We will gather at the corner of Highway 97 South and First Avenue (Old Okanagan Highway), and stand on the sidewalk along the highway above the Royal Bank. Everyone welcome."
Due to snow and slippery roads, Setah is asking participants not to go onto Highway 97.
"We can stand on both sides of the highway. Aboriginal policing and WFN bylaw will be on site. We look forward to a peaceful gathering consisting of drumming and singing.
"We can park in the Royal Bank parking lot. Please keep in mind that this is a alcohol- and drug-free event," she said.
