CURLING: Sweden's Edin back to defend Cup

Print PDF
When Team World sealed the championship at the 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling in Langley last January, the Swedish foursome skipped by Niklas Edin was right in the middle of the victory celebration.
It marked the fourth time the World side had captured the tournament title, matching Team North America's record in the eight-year history of the showdown that features the biggest names in the game.
With the upcoming tie-breaker scheduled for Penticton, Jan. 10-13, Edin is coming back to compete along with rinkmates Sebastian Kraupp, Fredrik Lindberg and Viktor Kjall for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup at the South Okan-agan Events Centre.
Edin leads one of the most talented young teams on the world curling scene.
Following a fourth-place finish at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Swedes have remained at the top of the international rankings, winning bronze medals at the world men's curling championship the past two years.
Tickets for the tournament are available at SOEC's box office and the Wine Country Visitors Centre. For more information, go online to www.curling.ca/championships/ continentalcup.
