Jackson Whistle made 27 saves for Kelowna, while Myles Bell racked up three assists, as the Rockets jumped back into the win column by defeating the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in WHL action on Sunday.
The road win snapped a three-game losing streak. It also came less than 24 hours after the Rockets dropped back-to-back home games to the Portland Winterhawks, losing 5-3 on Friday, then 5-1 on Saturday.
Prior to playing Portland, the Rockets lost 5-0 in Spokane on Wednesday. Kelowna’s next game is Thursday, versus Everett at Prospera Place.
At Comcast Arena on Sunday, Colton Sissons opened the scoring for Kelowna (41-13-3-1) at 10:26 of the first period, with Ryan Olsen making it 2-0 at 11:18 on the power play, then J.T. Barnett pushing the Rockets’ lead to 3-0 at 14:04.
Ty Mappin, at 5:31 of the second, and Manraj Hayer, four minutes later at 9:16, replied for Everett (21-31-1-4). Both goals were power-play markers. Daniel Cotton made 22 saves for the Silvertips. Whistle also stopped a penalty shot, taken by Ryan Harrison at 15:24 of the second.
