The roof was raised on the West Kelowna Sports Dome Friday.
The synthetic turf field covered by an air-supported structure system will allow field sports to be played in fall and winter in West Kelowna. The $4.1 million project cost includes design, engineering, site preparation, construction, contingencies and commissioning.
Westside Youth Soccer provided $667,000 toward the construction of the project.
West Kelowna bought property at 2139 McDougall Rd. in Rose Valley for the dome, which together with Rosewood Sports Field, Mar Fee Park and Trails and Mar Jok Elementary School will create three square kilometres of adjacent public amenities.
Construction on the dome began in March 2019 and is on track for the dome estimated opening in early October.
Westside Youth Soccer has already opened online registration for indoor soccer league and indoor soccer skills training at wysa.ca.
