Soccer balls are nearly ready for kicking inside West Kelowna’s new inflatable dome.
Post-construction walk-throughs of the site have been completed, with most of the on-site landscaping also installed, city councillors will hear Tuesday.
Other significant milestones include completion of the washrooms, parking lot and installation of most utilities.
The report does not indicate a specific opening date for the dome, near Mar Jok Elementary School in Rose Valley, but the city’s website says the facility will be completed this month.
Cost of the project was $4.1 million, with the Westside Youth Soccer Association providing almost $670,000. Most of that came in a provincial grant approved by former B.C. Liberal premier Christy Clark, who once represented the riding that includes West Kelowna.
The synthetic turf is covered by an air-supported roof.
