The public shouldn't be scared after a man was shot Sunday afternoon south of Peachland.

"Early indictors suggest the incident was isolated in nature and police do not believe the general public is at further risk," said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

It was around 5:45 p.m. when police received a call about a shooting outside a home in the 7200 block of Highway 97 South.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

"Although the man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening, there could have been a very different outcome," said O'Donaghey.

The investigation remains in its early stages.

The shooter was described to police as wearing a black T-shirt with his face covered.
