A boil-water advisory in the old South East Kelowna Irrigation District area has been downgraded to a water-quality advisory.

The boil-water notice was issued in early spring due to high levels of turbidity in the water at Hydraulic Creek, which supplies the area’s water system.

While the water has improved, it’s not clear enough yet to have no advisories, the City of Kelowna, which took over the water district, said in a news release.

Construction is underway throughout East Kelowna to hook up SEKID customers to the city water system. There is no advisory in place for the few homes that have already been hooked up to the city’s system.

The Hall Road area, which has its own wells, is under the advisory because any interruptions in the supply there would result in customers getting the same water as everyone else in East Kelowna.
