The police emergency response team and crisis negotiators were called out to a West Kelowna home Wednesday afternoon.

Part of Gellatly Road and Witt Road were cordoned off as police responded to a report of a disturbance involving a distraught and barricaded man in the 3000 block of Wetton Road.

With the RCMP South East District Emergency Response Team, police dog services and crisis negotiators on hand, RCMP were able to communicate with the distraught man.

“The 42-year-old West Kelowna man has since exited the home, where he was taken into police custody without any further incident,” said RCMP Const. Lesley Smith.
