A boil-water notice has been downgraded to a water-quality advisory in West Kelowna Estates.
The boil-water notice, issued July 14, was prompted by what was thought to be a mechanical failure of the chlorination system for the West Kelowna Estates water system.
The City of West Kelowna deployed divers to inspect the intake pipe in Okanagan Lake and discovered the chlorination dosing line had been damaged, possibly by fishing or boating activity. Repairs were completed.
A water-quality advisory remains necessary due to continued turbidity that’s higher than normal, the city said in a news release on Thursday.
