The Canadian Mental Health Association’s annual Ride Don’t Hide event in the North Okanagan is well on its way to reaching its fundraising goal.
More than $34,000 has been raised so far. The goal is $60,000. The event will take place June 23 in Coldstream’s Creekside Park.
The family-oriented event is open to all ages and skill levels — from a 2.2-kilometre fun course to a more challenging 40-km ride.
New this year is Stride Don’t Hide, a walking route for non-cyclists. For those who prefer the indoors, Soul Studio is hosting a virtual spin ride indoors the day of the event.
Registration costs $35 for youth and adults, and free for children 12 and under. Participants can have the registration fee waived if they raise $100 in donations.
Individuals, families and teams can register online at vernon.ridedonthide.ca or at the event from 8 to 9 a.m.
National and local event sponsor, The Medicine Shoppe, will be raffling a Giant XTC Jr. 20 bike valued at $399 to raise funds for the ride. Tickets cost $5 each or three for $10.
Funds raised will help support youth programs and suicide prevention initiatives.
