Ten piles of remnants from the Philpott Road wildfire of 2017 will be burned this fall to finally get rid of it.
The prescribed burns will also help reduce the threat of erosion, re-establish vegetation and reduce future wildfire risk.
The B.C. Wildfire Service will prepare, control and monitor any fires that are set between Sept. 30 and the end of December.
Exact dates and times haven't been set because the service will only proceed with fires if weather, site and venting conditions are right.
The goal is for efficient burns and quick smoke dissipation.
Smoke may be visible from nearby communities.
The Philpott Road wildfire scorched 465 hectares in August 2017.
