Letter of the day: Safety tips for Kelowna drivers
Here are some suggestions for drivers.
• When passing on a two-lane road with a bike lane to the right, watch for scooters passing on the right, in the bike lane, when turning into a parking spot. An unusual hazard, but one to be mindful of.
• We were crossing the Bennett Bridge toward Kelowna some time ago. Ahead of us in the right lane was a pickup with a trailer carrying a machine. The driver wanted the left lane, so presumably did a shoulder check or checked his angled mirror. At that very instant, all traffic in the left lane stopped, leaving that driver no time to stop. A rear end crash then occurred.
I suppose the only suggestion I can come up with is to expect bridge traffic to stop at any time. I hope these tips help.
