Relief pitcher Connor Hurley and reigning league MVP Trent Tingelstad sealed a 4-2 victory for the Kelowna Falcons in their season-opener against the Bellingham Bells on Tuesday night in Washington state.
It was the first West Coast League game for both teams. They’ll play the second of a three-game set tonight.
Kelowna didn’t take the lead until the top of the 10th inning when Matt Voelzke brought home a run on a groundout before a wild pitch scored James Shimashita.
Tingelstad tied the game in the seventh inning when he hammered a two-run shot to deep right field. Jonathan Clark started and pitched five scoreless innings before the Bells built a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons open the home schedule on Friday night against the Ridgefield Raptors at Elks Stadium.
