Okanagan Sun lineman Cory McCoy was named B.C. Football Conference defensive player of the week on Tuesday.
The six-foot-four, 255-pound Kelowna native made eight tackles and recorded two quarterback sacks on Saturday in Chilliwack. The Sun defeated the Valley Huskers 21-16 to improve to 2-0.
Westshore Rebel Jeffroy Ojong played a large role in his club’s come-from-behind 39-30 victory at home over the V.I. Raiders.
Ojong caught four passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, the longest being 93 yards, as he was named offensive player of the week.
Rookie returner Sebastian Reid was named top special teams performer for the Langley Rams after they beat the Kamloops Broncos 63-7.
The New Westminster native ran back two punts for 117 yards and a TD. He added two kick-off returns for 40 yards.
