TORONTO (AP) _ Rogers Communication Inc. (RCI) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $245.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had net income of 49 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 62 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 63 cents per share.

The communications and media company posted revenue of $2.92 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.87 billion.

Rogers Communication shares have risen 13% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 29% in the last 12 months.
